The movie is an adventorous depiction of Asbjørnsen and Moe’s classic fairy tail about Ashlad. We’re in Norway, a long long, time ago. The poor farmer’s son Espen Ashlad goes on a dangerous journey to save the princess of the kingdom, so he can spend the reward to save his family farm. The princess is kidnapped by the King of the Mountain himself, a horrible troll who is rumoured to be unbeatable.
